FAQ

Got a question about Kids Love Music classes? We have answers. To help you understand what to expect, here are answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive from parents.

How do I register for class?

All registration is through the city where class is offered, or the co-sponsoring city. Please see our current music class schedule for links to your city’s recreation department.

Why do your instruments have bars missing?

They are set up with a pentatonic scale.  Please see “Why Pentatonic?” in the Parent section.

My baby won’t be 4 months old before class starts.  May I register anyway?

Yes, but you will need to register through the city by phone or in person so the computer can be overridden. City contact information can be found on the Class Schedule page.

I have a 3 year old and a baby, but no sitter.  May I bring the baby to class?

Yes, as long as you are able to focus on your older child. Baby can be resting in a stroller/car-seat or carried in a sling/backpack so you can focus on your older child.

I want to sign up for the Babies Love Music class, but I don’t have anyone to watch my older child. May I bring older brother/sister?

As long as your older child is able to quietly entertain themselves and not interrupt your play time with baby, he/she may attend.

Does my toddler have to be walking to enroll in the Toddlers Love Music class (1-2 year olds)?

No, not necessarily. The activities change frequently during the toddler music class, so be prepared to carry your toddler when needed. It is normal for toddlers who are already walking to occasionally want to be carried in order to feel more secure in the new situation.

I am registering two children for class.  Does there need to be one adult per child?

As long as you are able to attend to both children, no.  I do not require one adult per child.
